River Ouzel and Ledburn Brook

Whilst not a major addition to our fishing portfolio, This short stretch of the River Ouzel just outside Leighton Buzzard adds diversity by providing a limited amount of small river natural fishing habitat. The stretch is very shallow during the summer and can get quite overgrown however during the colder months it has proved fantastic for winter Chub and Perch fishing. The stretch of River runs directly adjacent to the Grand Union Canal from the A4146 bridge past Tiddenfoot Lake towards Mentmore Park

The depth of the stretch varies up to a depth of around 5 feet deep and there are lots of nice fish holding features such as overhanging trees etc

One of the Canal Bailiffs witnessed a 2lb 8oz Roach caught from this stretch

There have been chub to 6lb 8oz caught from the canal next to the river which probably would have come from the Ouzel when it has flooded into the canal. Good sized Perch, Bream and Carp have also been reported from this section.

Leighton Buzzard Angling Club have fishing rights on the opposite bank and as this stretch is very narrow please do not disturb any LBAC member who may be fishing on the opposite bank.

Find yourself a spot well away from where they are fishing. We do not want to cause any friction.

The best place to park in the Mentmore Memorial Park car park and then walk down to the canal over the footbridge and then the river is accessible from the towpath.

Ledburn Brook adjacent to The Grove P.H. car park at Lock 28 can also be fished by our members.
