Fancy having a go at fishing but not sure where to start?
Luton Angling Club is committed to providing coaching and tuition and our goal is not only to introduce more people to the sport but also to help existing anglers improve their skills and catch more fish.
If you or your children have ever wanted to try fishing as a hobby our FREE short taster sessions are a great way to try fishing first hand before investing in tackle and licences or club membership.
Our coaches are DBS (formerly CRB) checked and fully qualified and licenced by the Angling Trust who are the governing body of angling. The club also has an appointed safeguarding officer who can investigate and address any concerns or queries.

Luton Angling Club - Angling Taster Sessions/Lets Fish
Luton Angling Club is committed to providing coaching and tuition and our goal is not only to introduce more people to the sport but to also help existing anglers improve their skills and catch more fish and we have been working very hard to achieve this.
If you or your children have ever wanted to try fishing as a hobby our FREE short taster sessions are a great way to try fishing first hand before investing in tackle and licences or club membership.
The club currently has a number of qualified Level 1 and Level 2 coaches on its team. All the coaches are DBS checked and are fully qualified and licensed by the Angling Trust.
In association with the Canal and River Trust the club first held several FREE taster days in 2017 & following their success held even more in 2018 and 2019 all were very well attended and enjoyed by all with many families attending more than one event. During 2020 and 2021 only a few were held due to Coronavirus restrictions however were able to hold a couple of COVID safe and socially distanced sessions when restrictions were eased. Now the pandemic is under control the events are getting back to normal and a number of events were held and well attended during 2022
The club will be holding many more FREE taster days during 2023 and everyone is welcome whether young or old. All fishing tackle and bait is provided and our coaches are on hand to provide instruction and hopefully help you catch your first fish. a rod licence is not required as the event is covered by an EA permit.
Places need to be booked via EventBrite for these events. All the events will be on the EventBrite website nearer to the date of the event.

Here is some feedback we received following previous events
"Alfie (11)and charlie(13) started fishing on a Saturday learning with your team who have been coaching the two boys and they are very enthusiastic new members.Only 2 weeks in and today they have been out alone for the second time with rigs they learnt to make themselves on 4m whips loaned to them to get them started. On a recent outing to three locks on the canal Charlie caught 31 fish and Alfie 29 during a 3 and a half hour session. The catch of the day was Alfie’s first bite in the water and his biggest catch by far which he was overly excited by. I can’t say enough good things about your coaches they have certainly inspired two new young anglers that are looking forward to representing the club in September at the festival in Shropshire. We also met the bailiff on the bank today who was a pleasure to chat with and gave the boys lots of encouragement"
"Hi guys and girls I would like to thank one of your coaches who has been helping out today his name is Trevor Bunnage. Today he has been a super coach not only has he been walking up and down looking after everyone who was fishing but he was really good with my daughter giving her hints and tips on fish and how to catch more fish. He is a credit to your team so I would like to take the time to say a big thank you to Trevor. Many thanks Bob Kate and Louise"
